National Electronic Mass Media Council in Latvia

The National Electronic Mass Media Council is an independent, autonomous institution enjoying full rights, which, within its competence, shall represent the interests of the public in the field of electronic mass media and supervise the latter so that in their operations they observe the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia, this Law and other regulatory enactments. The Council is a derived public person.

The National Electronic Mass Media Council shall act in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of the Republic of Latvia, this Law and other regulatory enactments.

The financing necessary for fulfilling the functions of the National Electronic Mass Media Council, including provision of the public service remit, shall be granted from the State budget. The request of the Council’s budget until submission of the draft budget law to the Cabinet shall not be amended without co-ordination with the Council.
